Ariel

by Sylvia Plath

Presented by Andrew Lindemann Malone

Stasis in darkness.

Then the substanceless blue

Pour of tor and distances.

God's lioness,

How one we grow,

Pivot of heels and knees!–––The furrow

Splits and passes, sister to

The brown arc

Of the neck I cannot catch,

Nigger-eye

Berries cast dark

Hooks–––

Black sweet blood mouthfuls,

Shadows.

Something else

Hauls me through air–––

Thighs, hair;

Flakes from my heels.

White

Godiva, I unpeel–––

Dead hands, dead stringencies.

And now I

Foam to wheat, a glitter of seas.

The child's cry

Melts in the wall,

And I

Am the arrow,

The dew that flies

Suicidal, at one with the drive

Into the red

Eye, the cauldron of morning.

I Real

Artisan's desk sins.

She be butch nun, tesselates

Draftsperson out on acid.

Gneiss so old,

We go own whore,

She honk off representative!–––Would

Stripteases stop, sans lids

Crab threw on

Tectonic chant honk face?

Grey genie

A berserk dirt sac

Shook–––

Mud befouls wok's tablecloths,

Wash sod.

Hot gel nemesis

Righteous hurl a ham–––

Hit hash rig;

Er, smoke half myself.

We hit

Evil pod guinea–––

Added Dad's internecine gash.

Down in a

Hailstorm, a goat waste toffee.

Her child cyst

Win lethal smelt,

An id

Hew a mortar,

Heft lewd atheist

Heavenward, I cut lithe idiots

To tend heir

Reentering, moan of holy cud.

And thus, the anagrammatical Sylvia Plath.
